Imagine you asked your friend a simple question, like, “Hey, do you know what time it is?” And your friend replies, “How should I know? Figure it out yourself!” In this situation, you might say to another friend later, “Wow, he really bit my head off just for asking the time!”
Here’s another situation: Let’s say you come home late, and your mom asks you, “Where have you been?” And before you can explain, you say, “Why do you always have to ask me so many questions?!” – “Hey! Don’t bite my head off!!!”
Last example: You’re at work, and your boss is in a bad mood. You ask a simple question about the project deadline, and your boss yells, “Just do your job!” You could tell your colleague, “The boss really bit my head off today for no reason!”
